AI & machine learning

Turn business data
into better decisions.

AI and machine learning development for prediction, classification and decision support. Build models around a defined target, a useful baseline and the conditions of the real world.

AI & machine learning

Start with the decision.
Build the model around it.

The strongest machine learning initiatives begin with a decision someone needs to make. Which demand signals deserve attention? Which records require review? Where is an operational exception likely to occur?

We help frame the prediction or classification task, examine available data and choose a practical modeling approach. Data quality, target definition and the cost of different errors shape the solution as much as the algorithm itself.

A model should be evaluated in the context where it will be used. That includes comparing it with a simple baseline, separating training from evaluation data and understanding whether the results remain useful across relevant time periods and business segments.

Applications

Build around a meaningful task.

The examples below illustrate possible engagement areas. Each initiative is scoped to your organization’s requirements.

01

Forecasting & planning

Develop predictive inputs for demand, workload or operational planning. Use time-aware evaluation and compare model outputs with established planning methods.

02

Classification & prioritization

Help teams organize documents, categorize requests or prioritize records for review. Set thresholds around the relative cost of missed cases and unnecessary alerts.

03

Patterns & exceptions

Explore unusual events or relationships in operational data. Design how people investigate a signal and provide feedback rather than treating every anomaly as a confirmed problem.

The engineering approach

Make the foundations
part of the product.

01

Data & target design

Define the outcome to predict, the timing of the decision and the information available at that moment. Examine missing data, quality issues and potential leakage.

02

Model development

Establish a baseline before testing more complex methods. Select features and approaches that fit the data volume, interpretability needs and operating constraints.

03

Validation & integration

Test relevant segments and time periods. Integrate batch or online scoring with the applications and decision processes that will consume the predictions.

04

MLOps & monitoring

Version data and model artifacts, define release and rollback procedures and monitor changes in inputs alongside model quality and business results.

Define success

Measure what matters
in your environment.

A useful evaluation asks whether the application can perform the task under realistic conditions. We help establish acceptance criteria and make trade-offs visible before a broader release.

Example application: demand forecasting support

A planning team combines historical demand with available business signals. A forecasting model is compared with the existing baseline using later time periods. The application highlights uncertainty and exceptions for planners to review. Production monitoring tracks input changes and forecast performance so the team can investigate when conditions change.

Illustrative application, not a client case study.

Business value

Does the model improve the decision compared with the existing approach?

Error trade-offs

Are false positives and false negatives acceptable for the use case?

Segment performance

Does quality remain useful across the populations and conditions that matter?

Production change

Are shifts in data or outcomes identified and reviewed by an accountable owner?

The people behind the solution

Common questions

Go deeper into AI & machine learning.

How is machine learning different from generative AI?

Machine learning includes a broad range of methods for finding patterns and making predictions. Generative AI is a category that produces content such as text or images. The business task determines which approach, or combination of approaches, is appropriate.

Do we need large amounts of data?

The amount depends on the task, the signal in the available data and the selected approach. A discovery phase should assess whether the data can support the intended decision and whether a simpler method is sufficient.

Does drift mean the model is wrong?

No. Drift indicates a change in the distribution of data. It is a reason to investigate alongside outcome-based evaluation, not proof that every prediction is incorrect.
